Where Is It, and How's the Commute?

The club sits off Southern Highlands Parkway in the far south of the valley, west of I-15. Southern Highlands Parkway connects to I-15, which runs north to the Strip and the airport.

The Golf Club

The course was co-designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Jr. It was the elder Jones' final work and one of four courses the father and son designed together. Wikipedia describes the club as private, with invitation-only membership. It also lists the club's annual Governor's Black Tie Invitational, a charity event held at the club and Spa Southern Highlands (Wikipedia).

Owning a home inside the gate doesn't make you a member. If golf is part of your plan, ask the club about membership before you buy.

What Are the Homes Like?

The golf club community is a collection of gated enclaves inside one guard-gated perimeter:

• The Estates at Southern Highlands: the largest homes, many on private drives
• Enclaves like Masters at Southern Highlands Golf Club, which sits behind its own second guard gate. I've toured a home there
• Golf-course and view homes throughout, with mature trees and green landscaping

Because each enclave has its own builder history and rules, compare homes enclave by enclave rather than across the whole club.

What Are the HOA Fees?

Expect at least two layers: the Southern Highlands master association plus the golf club community's association, and sometimes an enclave sub-association for a second gate. Public listing data I checked showed only the master fee, which would understate your real cost, so I don't quote a number here. Add up every layer in the resale package before you write an offer.

Which Schools Are Nearby?

CCSD assigns schools by address, so check yours with the CCSD zoning tool. Public schools near Southern Highlands Golf Club include:

• Evelyn Stuckey Elementary School
• Dennis Ortwein Elementary School
• Charles and Phyllis Frias Elementary School

Southern Highlands Preparatory School is a private option nearby.
